Tony Albans commenced his Telecommunications career, as an apprentice, in 1976. Experienced was gained in all aspects of Telephony, including installation and faults. PCs arrived, and demand grew for communication, PC to PC, and BBS downloads, prompting a move into Data Communications and Tony became involved in Data Network design, mainly for Banks and large Corporates. He then took on the role of Training & Development Consultant, in areas including; PCs Operating Systems and Applications, Data and Packet Switching, LAN/WAN, Network Management. A change from quasi Government to Private enterprise, saw Tony back to hands on roles in LAN/WAN install and maintenance, in the larger organisations; Health, Rail, Banking, & Corporates. With a change of direction into IT Distribution, with a National Sales and Support role, encompassing LAN/WAN hardware and Software, including Custom Software development, Tony then made a move into Corporate sales, as account executive. It didn’t take long for him to realise that he could do all that was required of Technical and Sales and all that remained was to put learning from Business studies into practice, forming a Network Consulting business. Opportunity presented for Software Development, contracting to deliver a shipping “provedore” application, to military specification. Ultimately, telephony and data have merged, as VOIP, allowing people such as Tony to leverage those years of practical experience, and share learning with industry colleagues.
